About
The Accelerated MS in Accounting (AMSA) offered online is for students who complete an Accounting major at UConn. It was developed as an accelerated option for highly motivated undergraduate accounting students to complete their bachelor's and master's degree in accounting in 4.5 years or less, reducing the length of time and overall cost to complete both degrees. Students in AMSA take four MSA courses (12 credits) while an undergraduate student (as part of their undergraduate tuition), which, upon acceptance, can be used towards the MSA degree. When beginning the MSA, students who participated in AMSA will have a remaining six courses to complete the degree.
The AMSA provides a value-added pathway over taking extra credits to fulfill the overall CPA requirement of 150 credits and allows students to enter the workforce earlier. For example, an AMSA student who completes four MSA courses and their undergrad degree in December can complete the MSA degree the following summer.
Students will work with their undergraduate advisor when choosing MSA coursework. Some courses will be offered face-to-face, while others will be online.
Location
Courses offered by the undergraduate program, and selected graduate courses, will be in Storrs or online. Completing the remainder of the MSA will be fully online as a matriculated graduate student.
