Joann DeBlasis

Joann DeBlasis ’76, ’83 MBA is retired from her position of President, Accident & Health,
Navigators Re, a brand of The Hartford Insurance Group. DeBlasis joined Navigators in
October 2010 and was responsible for the overall financial management of the accident &
health reinsurance product. DeBlasis has enjoyed a long career in the reinsurance field starting
with Cigna in the early 1990’s . She implemented a health reinsurance product line for three
separate insurance companies including all facets of administration, underwriting, pricing
marketing and financial management.

Prior to her career in reinsurance, DeBlasis worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York
City and held various financial reporting positions at Aetna and Cigna. DeBlasis earned a
bachelor’s degree in accounting from UConn in 1976 and was inducted into the School of
Business Hall of Fame in 2014. After completing her CPA, she obtained her MBA from UConn
at night while working full time. DeBlasis established a scholarship in 2012 to benefit UConn’s
Stamford campus.

DeBlasis has been a mentor for the BCLC for three years and has spoken to UConn students
at various seminars. She is currently a member of the UConn School of Business Dean’s
Advisory Board.

DeBlasis splits her time between Ridgefield and Old Lyme , CT. Both of her sons have followed
her into the CPA profession. Her passions include golf, travel, gourmet cooking and keeping
active.
