If you are not a native speaker of English, and you plan to obtain a teaching assistantship, you must satisfy UConn’s English Proficiency Policy before being allowed to instruct a class.  For more information, please contact International Teaching Assistant Services.

You will be required to report your test scores within the Test Scores section of the online application. After submitting your application, please make sure you have your test scores sent electronically to the university using the codes above.  An official decision cannot be made until the official test scores are received by the university. If your official transcripts do not indicate English as the medium of instruction, please provide a letter from your university bearing their official colored stamp or impressed seal indicating that you were educated in the English language.

U.S. citizens and applicants with permanent resident status are not required to provide evidence of English-language proficiency.  All other applicants are required to provide evidence of English-language proficiency.
