International applicants to graduate degree programs who are also requesting student visas must submit language test scores. The online application system will allow you to report test scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL-ibt, preferred), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), and the Pearson Test of English (PTE). Please refer to the following chart for which programs accept which test types.
|Full-time MBA Program||Yes||3915-02||Yes||Yes|
|MS in Business Analytics and Project Management||Yes||3915-02||Yes||No|
|MS in Financial Risk Management||Yes||3915-02||Yes||Yes|
|Ph.D. in Business||Yes||3915-02||Yes||Yes|
*IELTS scores need to be in hard copy form, not electronic. See details below.
Language tests are not applicable for the following graduate business degree programs: Part-time MBA, Executive MBA, MS in Accounting, or MS in Human Resource Management.
International applications will not be evaluated without official language scores. Exceptions to the language requirement are sometimes made in cases where English is the applicant’s native language or for those who attended an English speaking university or college for one year or more. If your official transcripts do not indicate English as the medium of instruction, please provide a letter from your university bearing their official colored stamp or impressed seal indicating that you were educated in the English language.
You will be required to report your test scores within the Test Scores section of the online application. After submitting your application, please mail your official test scores to the program to which you are applying. Click here for the mailing addresses. An official decision cannot be made until the official test scores are received by the university.
U.S. citizens and applicants with permanent resident status are not required to provide evidence of English-language proficiency. All other applicants are required to provide evidence of English-language proficiency.
A TOEFL score is valid for two years from the date you submit your application. Please note that it takes approximately three weeks to receive your official TOEFL score from ETS. Please visit www.TOEFL.org for test and registration information.
A IELTS score is valid for two years from the date you submit your application. Only the scores from the Academic Module, not the General Training Module, are applicable. You can learn more about and register for the IELTS test at www.ielts.org. UConn is not yet set up to accept these scores electronically so paper scores should be sent to the Graduate School at:
